There are thousands of cartridge’s in the world. Probably tens of thousands if you include wildcats. After you have done enough shooting and you’ve studied ballistics enough you begin to develop preferences and favorites. Sometimes there is not an objective reason to have a preference for one cartridge over another. The beauty of the hobby, or the profession is that you are often not limited to the practicality of one cartridge over another, sometimes there is just something to it that draws your attention.
My one requirement is that I own a firearm chambered for the cartridge, that’s what makes it a favorite, rather then a cartridge of interest.
My list of favorite cartridges
- 45 ACP
- 308 Winchester
- 303 British
- 12 Gauge
- 338 Spectre
As with most hobbies, there are things that draw your interest, but you have not quite had the opportunity, for one reason or another, to make the investment to try it out. These cannot really be considered “Favorite” cartridges, but rather cartridges of interest, something should time, and money allow, I might get into at some point in the future. I’ll outline the cartridge’s, and attempt to voice my interest in them.
These are cartridges which I do not own, but have done some measure of research on and would like to own a firearm chambered in one.
My cartridge’s of interest
